Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Gable at gogable.com. Gable is a service of Gladspace Media, LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Maine. Using the site means you accept them.

What Gable is

Gable is an introduction service. You describe a job, we ask local companies what work like that usually costs, and we show you what came back. We also publish a video feed and an assistant that answers questions about looking after a home.

What Gable is not

We are not a contractor. We do not carry out work, we do not supervise it, and we do not employ or control the companies we approach on your behalf. We are not licensed to perform any trade and we do not inspect anyone's property.

Any work you have done is a contract between you and that company. Their price, their licensing, their insurance, their timekeeping and the quality of what they do are theirs. If something goes wrong with the work, it is a matter between you and them.

About the quotes

• A number a company gives us is a ballpark for that kind of job in that area. It is not an offer, not a fixed price and not binding on anyone. Nearly all of them will change once someone has seen the property.
• We cannot promise any company replies. Some answer the same day, some take longer, and some never answer at all. A request that produces no quotes is a possible outcome.
• We do not check whether a company is licensed, insured, or any good. Ratings and details shown come from public sources and may be out of date. Satisfying yourself about a company before you hire them is your job, and it is worth doing.
• We do not receive a share of the price you pay, and no company can pay us to appear ahead of another.

Contacting companies on your behalf

When you submit a request, you are asking us to approach local companies about it. We do that using our own name and contact details, and we pass on the job and the neighbourhood without identifying you. You can tell us to stop at any time by emailing bids@gogable.com.

The assistant

The assistant gives general information about houses. It is not a surveyor, an electrician, a structural engineer or a lawyer, it is sometimes wrong, and it should not be the only thing you rely on before spending money or doing anything that could be dangerous. If a problem involves gas, structure, electricity or water where you are unsure, get a qualified person to look at it.

Calls made through Gable

Calls placed through the site go out from a number we assign to you. Do not use it for emergencies, for anything unlawful, or to harass anyone. Emergency services cannot be reached from it. We may withdraw a number that is misused.

Using the site

Do not submit requests for jobs that do not exist, impersonate someone else, scrape the site, or try to break it. We can suspend access to anyone who does.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else is using it. You can ask us to close it at any time.

Liability

Gable is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for the work a company does or fails to do, for a price that turns out to be higher than a ballpark, for a company that never responds, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, where Gladspace Media, LLC is registered, and any dispute belongs in the courts there.
